What is Anadrol (oxymetholone)?

Oxymetholone is an oral anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. Syntex introduced it in 1960, and it has been sold as Anadrol-50 in North America and as Anapolon in other markets.

It is a 17-alpha alkylated compound, the modification that allows a steroid to survive first-pass metabolism in the liver when swallowed. Tablets are most commonly made in 25mg and 50mg strengths.
